Huge congratulations to Hutton Rudby Primary School, who have are winners of the “Community Fundraisers Award” at the 2019 Gazette Community Champion Awards.
When Russ took his own life it rocked the community of Hutton Rudby and in particular, the school his 3 daughters attended and where Catherine is chair of governors.
In Russ’ memory, the staff, led by head teacher Matthew Kelly, decided to tackle the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours!…. Not only did they smash it, but along with other fundraising activities involving the school children, parents and friends of the school, raised an extraordinary £15,000 towards the Headlight Project!!!
This award is so well deserved and recognises a small school with a big heart, which has united a community and raised the importance of children’s mental health.
With more to come and ongoing fundraising in school the project is forever grateful for your support…..go Team Hutton Rudby!!!
